How this site is built
Astro, Markdown, Catppuccin Mocha, and a git push to Vercel. That's the whole stack.
I wanted a personal site that’s fast, easy to write for, and easy on the eyes. Here’s the setup.
The stack
| Piece | Choice |
|---|---|
| Framework | Astro, fully static |
| Content | Markdown files in the repo |
| Theme | Catppuccin Mocha |
| Hosting | Vercel, deploys on push |
There’s no client-side framework. The only JavaScript on the site runs the search page.
Writing a post
Every post is a Markdown file in src/content/posts/ with a bit of frontmatter:
---
title: My new post
description: One line that shows up on the home page.
date: 2026-10-03
tags: [notes]
draft: false
---
Write here.
Commit, push, and Vercel builds and deploys it. Draft posts (draft: true) only appear when running locally.
The colors
The whole palette comes from Catppuccin Mocha’s 26 colors, defined as CSS custom properties. The code blocks use the matching Shiki theme:
export function greet(name: string) {
return `Hello, ${name}!`;
}
Soothing pastel theme for the high-spirited. It fits.
